The Senior Project in Visual Communications II course is the final digital design course. The last project in this course is an online, multimedia portfolio.

When this course was first offered, Spring 2004, the initial plan was for the portfolios to be created and burned onto individual, promotional CDs for students to mail out and/or hand out during interviews. (The program did not have the ability to post portfolios online.) These initial portfolios were created using Director. The file size of these portfolios was large, often well beyond 50MB in size and too large for uploading onto the Internet.

In 2006, the senior year, multimedia portfolio strategy was revised with the intention of creating portfolios that could be burned onto CDs as well as posted online. Director was abandoned in favor of the more versatile Flash because of Flash's ability to streamline files small enough to work on the Internet. The file size of each portfolio dropped dramatically, usually to less than 4 MB.

Many of the recent design graduates purchased domain names and uploaded their portfolios onto their own web servers.
