In the Fall of 1999, the Information Technology department (IT) at Centenary College created a folder on the college's web site for the students in fine art , fashion and graphics to showcase their art work online (www.centenarycollege.edu/artwork/). Over time, additional student work was added and the site became larger and larger, eventually consuming over 85% of the college's entire web server. The massive artwork folder was unceremoniously taken off the Internet in the Fall of 2003. For the next few years, no art work was exhibited online at the college.
In April of 2006, the decision was made to register "digitalmutiny" as a domain name for this digital design program. Moreover, with the assistance of the IT department, a 200 GB server was set up at the college specifically for this web site. Hence, the "mutiny" portion of our domain name might be a bit of an overstatement.
In October of 2006, preliminary work was started in building this web site. The project was spearheaded by senior graphic design major, Steven Bino. Upon earning his BFA degree in January of 2007, Steven's responsibilities were seamlessly taken over by senior graphic design student, Jeff Eggert.
Worth noting, www.digitalmutiny.com is currently 500MB in size; we have consumed only 1/400th of our server's capacity.
The previous web site's graphic design section remains intact and can be viewed at:
