I have always
been interested in pursuing a career in the arts, but for most of
my life thought that that meant I had to be a starving artist before
being discovered and then either rising to super stardom (not likely)
or just starving (likely). Then I realized that there is a whole world
of commercial art that I could be a part of, but heard that it is
very competitive. Insecure,
I imagined that if I tried to enter the field, I would spend the rest
of my life in a cubicle designing the text layout of matchbook covers,
or something equally frightening. After high school, I took some time away from my education
to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, and ultimately came
to the conclusion that I couldn't spend my life not doing what I love
for fear of a less-than-perfect outcome.
I am now a student at Centenary
College, in the graphic design program. I've spent two semesters here, originally studying fine art
before changing majors. mMy
main areas of study have been digital illustration and web design.
I have been accepted to
the University of the Arts, in Philadelphia, and I look forward to
studying industrial design there. I am constantly analyzing objects and systems and infrastructure
to see how they could be made better, and have decided to take advantage
of my knack for analysis in these areas.ð
I hope to one day specialize in product, package, or graphic
design.
