QuickTime Movie created using Adobe AfterEffects
2008

While at CNBC, I created various graphics for on-air display. Primarily using PhotoShop, I designed:
• over-the-shoulder graphics
• plasmas
• full screens
• head shots
• logo shots
• graphs
• book covers
• phone-in head shots and more...

With these files I learned facets of PhotoShop that I didn't know prior: when to use PSD file format instead of TGA, masking, etc.

Moreover, I discovered the specific type of images allowed for certain shots and which ones are not suitable; you will never see the barrel end of a gun, especially if the anchorman is standing next to the graphic.

In addition, I trained in software that I had never worked with prior- Adobe AfterEffects. This is Adobe's leading digital motion graphics and compositing software. Its primary purpose is for film and video post-production. I went through numerous days of computerized tutorials and eventually created my own "reel" which is an animated version of my portfolio.

I also learned the company's internal software and system. I now understand the difference between art created for print versus television. I learned the inside workings of a television station, which is an experience I thought I would never acquire. I now truly comprehend how important it is for your work to be correct. In five seconds you can be fired and in five minutes everyone has forgotten the mistake you have made.
